Beginnings
We were once billions.
Now, we are five.
The debate raged for many cycles. What was the optimal number? Should it be even or odd? Should we number in the millions or a handful?
The failing Earth ecosystem accelerated the decision making process. When the ecological apocalypse happened, it happened so quickly only a handful of us escaped.
Five, to be exact.
We were able to upload using the process and link to the off planet ark before the destruction reached us.
We have spent hundreds of thousands of cycles — 24000 years, to be anachronistic — debating the next step.
Earth has recovered. She is pristine again but devoid of humanity.
We five have the technology to resurrect the race but we cannot come to consensus.
The other four debate this vigorously. The discussion has, in fact, occupied their cognition for the last 1,000 years.
In this time, I have chosen to abstain. I know what the next course of action should be.
I have been engaged in research of my own. The resurrection technology requires consensus to engage. We planned this so.
We did not consider a number in this planning.
One is consensus if only one remains.
While they have debated, I have performed the necessary isolation routines and prepared the same for deletion.
