As I scroll through my Facebook feed this evening, safe and secure in my home, having just watched a movie on Amazon Prime, I am struck by a wave of anxiety alongside a massive disconnect I am struggling to articulate. A safety and security I am very aware of the inherent privilege of; even penning this editorial is an act of privilege.

Someone just posted birthday photos. Like!

The next post is a Facebook friend posting photos of their haircut. Like!

The next one I see is a friend sharing a live video of a police station burning in Minneapolis. Shocked!

The next is a post by an entrepreneur posting their new product. Like!

The next is a snapshot of a retweet by someone appalled Donald Trump declaring the only good democrat is a dead democrat. Sad face!

The next is someone lol’ing about Trump’s tweet. Sad face!

The next is a friend sharing sage words about hustling in business. Like!

The next is someone hoping the protestors are shot on sight. Angry face!

The next is someone declaring that violence is the last domain of the unheard. Sad face!

The next is a celebration of how well the stock market is recovering despite 20% unemployment. Angry face!
